Fire Risk Reduction for Vineyards
California Land Stewardship Institute (CLSI), in collaboration with CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake Napa unit and with funding from the California Dept of Food and Agriculture, has created a comprehensive set of Best Management Practices (BMPs) and videos for vineyard sites that want to reduce their on-site fire risk. These BMPs provide detailed background information and instructions for topics such as worker safety, evacuation plans, building hardening, defensible space, prescribed burning and post-fire recovery.
CLSI also produced eight videos on fire issues to assist private landowners in implementing fire risk reductions. These videos include topics such as vegetation management in grasslands, chaparral, and forests, as well as post-fire recovery and fire issues and resources. Please visit the Fish Friendly Farming website for more information.

Dispatch Tour
On August 2nd, Engineer Padilla and Firefighters Robertson and Mohar visited REDCOM, our dispatch center, for a sit-a-long. They shadowed disaptcher Frances Rossiter, who assisted with the delivery of a baby while they were there. Padilla, Robertson, and Mohar learned about the duties of a dispatcher and the protocols they follow. This was a great way for our staff to see the what's happening on the other side of their radios.
