Volunteer Firefighter
Are you interested in learning life saving skills and helping the community?
The Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District is a "combination fire department" which means it consists of both volunteer and paid firefighters. We offer oportunities for those wishing to serve the community as a volunteer, as well as those looking for a career in the fire service.
The following is a list of minimum qualifications and commitments to be a Volunteer Firefighter:
- Pass background investigation
- Pass annual physical fitness test and regular physical exams
- Complete a volunteer training academy
- Commit to four (4) 12-hour daytime shifts per month
