Consolidation with Cloverdale Fire

The Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District is working toward full functional consolidation with Cloverdale Fire Protection District within the next five years.

In March of 2020, Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District entered into a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) for Mutual Fire Protection with Cloverdale Fire Protection District. The intent of the agreement was to align management and operations and to employ common equipment, resources and personnel to enhance coverage and create significant efficiencies, benefiting the citizens and taxpayers.

The JPA Oversight Committee was created to resolve any budget, service, or other issues that cannot be resolved at the staff level. The committee consists of both fire chiefs and two board members from each fire district.

Currently, the committee is working on developing a new JPA. The new JPA will serve as a guiding document for the next five years. Both districts aim to create a foundation that allows for gradual integration and alilgnment, setting the groundwork for potential further collaboration and possibly full consolidation when the timing is right.

Volunteer Firefighter Reunion

In 2015, we celebrated 100 years of service to our community. As part of that celebration, we invited all past and current volunteer firefighters to join us for a reunion. It has been 10 years since that celebration, and we want to thank our volunteers again by inviting them to the firehouse for a special occasion. If you served as a volunteer for this fire department, please email Ashlee Romero to be included in this celebration.

Sonoma County's Free Chipper Program Opens March 1st

The County of Sonoma has announced that this season's Chipper Application Portal will re-open on March 1, 2025.

Permit Sonoma Fire Prevention Division provides free chipper services to residents who are engaged in making their property more wildfire safe. The purpose of the program is to create defensible space, specifically around the home, structures, and access routes to the structures, for properties located in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County.

For more information, visit the Sonoma County Chipper Program website.

Enhanced Medical Services

Last June, the District approved a one-year enhanced medical services agreement with Bell's Ambulance to provide an additional advanced life support (ALS) or basic life support (BLS) ambulance. This agreement provided funds to staff an ambulance at least 20 days per month during peak demand periods beginning July 1, 2024.

The District desires to transition to having an additional ambulance every day of the month. At the December Board meeting, the Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District agreed to fund Bell's Ambulance for 25 days per month, and transition to daily staffing on April 1, 2025.
